Our knitting group is called "The Piscataqua River Knitting Club". Why you ask? Well, let me tell you....some of the members "live" on boats (in the summer) at a marina. The marina is located on Badger Island in Kittery, Maine, and the island is located on the Piscataqua River that flows into the Atlantic Ocean 3miles away.
Is this an awesome place, absolutely!!!! Across from our Marina is Portsmouth, NH, to our left is the Memorial Bridge, to our right is the Sarah Long Bridge and the 95 Bridge. It does not get any better than this.
So, when trying to think of a name for our knitting group, it seemed appropriate to name ourselves by the very river we live on. In my blogs to follow, I will explore the history of our river as well as Kittery, Maine and Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
So ends my blog for today.

I only knit on Wednesday's!
Definition of knitting:
- knit: needlework created by interlacing yarn in a series of connected loops using straight eyeless needles or by machine.
I first learned to knit at the age of 12 by my mother. I didn't know it then, but the craft would stay with me all my life.
It was a winter day approx. 6 years ago, when I wanted to do something creative, then it just came to me, "Why not give knitting a try". I hadn't picked up a set of needles in 35 years.
Well, let me tell you, after a week or two of re-learning, ripping out, ripping out and then ripping out again, I got the hang of it and so begins the last 6 years of knitting. Am I any good at knitting......I'm an ok knitter. I knit because of the rhythm and the sense of creativity it gives me.
As I tell my stories about knitting on Wednesday's, please enjoy! You will get to know me, as well as some really great ladies.
Well, so ends my first post to this Blog.
